About the Role

OpenMarket is currently seeking Java developers to design, build, test, and configure application software. Our architecture consists of a growing number of microservices that drive our platform and data systems that deliver customer insights. Working on a small, dedicated team, you will ensure your tools and services are able to scale and serve our core business and other engineering teams while maintaining high-performance in a 99.99% up-time environment. Teams are responsible for the deployment, operation, monitoring, and occasional "last tier" support of the services they own.

What You'll Be Doing

  • As a software development engineer, you will be part of an agile team participating in all ceremonies with the product manager, stakeholders, and team. These ceremonies are: Grooming meeting, Sprint Planning, Spring Review, retrospectives.

  • You will be responsible for choosing the technology, define the solution that best fits the need, then develop, unit test, and even provide support on production; since the service team has full responsibility of the services.

  • In regards to collaboration, you will be working pretty close with your service team, discussing solutions, sharing knowledge, peer programming, code reviews, supporting QA engineers. Also, you will have the opportunity to work with remote teams and participate in different technical forums.

What to Bring

  • 3+ years of experience working with Java server-side software design and development.
  • 2+ years of experience with RESTful web services and microservices.
  • 2+ years of experience with persistence (SQL or NoSql) and data modeling.
  • 1+ years of experience with dependency injection frameworks (e.g. Spring).
  • A collaborative working style—communicate and work well in a team environment.
  • Creative and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • A test-focused mindset to ensure the quality of your code.
  • Willingness to promote standards and methodologies within your team.
  • Desire to seek new challenges and grow your career.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience in cloud computing, preferably in AWS.

  • Working knowledge of big data in a distributed environment.

  • Experience in working with international teams.

  • Familiarity with UI frameworks (AngularJS, ReactJS).


A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
